Eduroam, however, is targeted for the users visiting IYTE and needing to access IYTE wireless network, is also made available for IYTE users since it provides Identity Authentication, makes available user name and password information are transmitted in secure, enables to make just one configuration for a unique SSID all over the campus field.

İYTE Users

IYTE users need to click the Activation menu link located on the left side of the page to be able to use eduroam wireless network and then enter their user name and password to activate their account to use eduroam. After that they need to make the configuration settings to their devices according to their devices to use. When they are done, they can easily connect to eduroam wireless network in safe.

Visitors

Visitors do need nothing special to connect to IYTE eduroam wireless network. However, they should have done and tested their eduroam configuration to their devices in their institues before visiting IYTE. Since each of the institues may have different settings their users to connect to eduroam and those settings could be more than a few, it is impossible to provide a support for them by BIDB. For all that, not to leave those users alone by theirselves, BIDB will be helpful as much as necessary for the users struggling to connect to eduroam when they apply BIDB with their devices.

What should i do if i have problems to connect to eduroam ?

Any user, from IYTE or a visitor, should send a e-mail to the address eduroam@iyte.edu.tr describing the problem in detail. If e-mail fails then they may call BIDB or apply individually. The contact information can be reached from the menu located on the left side of the page.

I connected to eduroam. What should i beware of ?

İYTE internet services are provided by ULAKBİM. It is aparently declared how to use these services in the document of ULAKBIM Acceptable Internet Policy. So, users have to be aware of the policy and abide by the rules written in that document. These services should be used for academic puposes and advances to improve educational quality. For this reason, users should not use these services causing them not to function.
